We’ve been in our apartment now nearly three years and while it’s come a long way from where we started, it still doesn’t feel quite complete to me and I’m itching to make some updates. I still like the overall feel and style we’ve gone with, but it still feels very much like an apartment to me rather than our home… does that make sense?
Part of the reason I feel like it doesn’t feel quite complete to me is that there are a lot of different things I wish we could do that are a little more permanent or more of an investment that I just know don’t make sense to do right now in an apartment that we don’t own. In a perfect world, I’d love to smooth out every wall (the texture kills me), paint, add wallpaper, change the ceiling fans to prettier light fixtures, remove the blinds, hang curtains in every room… the list goes on. But, I know that all of that just doesn’t make sense and I’ve accepted it!
For now, I’ll just continue collecting and adding little things here and there that feel special and I know one day I’ll have a place where I can do whatever I want! Aside from my office (which needs a LOT of help), our living is probably where we spend the most time so it’s where I put most of my decorating energy. I’m not looking to spend tons of money right now on it, but I’m always making small changes.
