It’s Friday! Yay! Does anyone else always feel like doing a little happy dance whenever we’ve made it to the end of the week? This weekend is going to be a fun one! Tonight we are going to a Bruno Mars cover concert at my parents’ club! Their Summer concerts are always a fun time! Tomorrow, we have a pickleball and pool party with a bunch of our friends, which I’m super excited about. Nothing better than some fun time in the sun with friends. Then, Sunday, is my mom’s birthday! She’s not really a big birthday person, but we always end up doing something fun to celebrate… I love anytime we get to spoil her because she spoils the rest of us so much!
Now for the report…
Reading
Okay I have been so bad about reading lately… I’m still reading Swan Song, by Elin Hilderbrand! It’s not that I don’t love the book… I really do, and I am almost finished! I’ve just had so many other things going on that I haven’t made the time to read. Hopefully, by next week, I’ll have a better update for you on this category!
Eating
After a long weekend of indulging in all the delicious southern food we could find while in Auburn, it felt so good to come home and reset. I talked about this a little bit on my Instagram stories this week, but I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made in my relationship with food, and a lot of that is thanks to the time I spent working with my friend Laura, who is a dietitian! In the past, after a big weekend of eating and drinking, I would find myself resorting to skipping meals or really restricting my diet by cutting out carbs completely to “eat better,” only to find myself craving those foods even more and feeling tired and sluggish. Working with Laura taught me the tools I need… Focusing on eating enough protein (I shoot for 100-120g) and properly fueling myself with healthy carbs and fats makes me feel SO much better. Some of the meals I made this week were this One Pot Eggroll Bowl (I subbed cauliflower rice for brown rice and added way more cabbage and carrots to load up on veggies) and this Salmon Bite Bowl (I did a mix of cauliflower rice and regular rice and added a drizzle of sriracha mayo on top). When I used to track my food, it always felt like it was a punishment, but now I track my food using My Fitness Pal so that I can be aware of what I’m eating! It’s amazing how when your fueling your body properly you can lose weight without feeling like you’re starving yourself.
Playing
I’m writing this on Thursday, and in a couple of hours, we’re having some friends over for a game night! I always struggle to figure out what games to play with groups of friends… Last time we played this game, but I think tonight we’re going to try this one!
Obsessing
One of my recent hyper fixation foods is this amazing peach hot sauce! I got it a while back at Whole Foods and I’ve used it, but I didn’t fully realize how much I liked it until this week! If you like hot sauce that is more flavorful rather than just spicy, then this is DELICIOUS!
Recommending
I posted about this in my Q&A on my Instagram stories on Wednesday, but this is seriously the best hair clip ever! It’s like a claw clip, but it lays flat against your head, so it’s super comfortable, and you can rest your head with it on! It’s genius! It comes in different sizes depending on how much hair you have and a ton of different colors. I want all of them! I’ve found it holds my hair super well. You can also get them at Target.
Treating
Ok, so this week I treated myself to a new waterbottle and I caved and ordered the one from the LoveshackFancy x Stanley collab! I got the pink and green Quencher bottle, which is sold out now, but the slim bottle is still available! I’m honestly a little bit embarrassed to admit this… It was SO expensive for a waterbottle and I’m not even 100% sure I think it’s cute or not, but I didn’t want it to sell out before I made up my mind. I’m ridiculous, I know… Anyway, I will be sure to report back my thoughts when it comes and let you know if I decide to keep it.
Have a great weekend!
