Here are some of my frequently asked questions:
Why/when did you start your blog?
I started blogging in April of 2013 as a sophomore in high school. At the time, I found myself searching for a creative outlet and something to distract me from stress. I had been thinking about starting a blog for a while and tried it a couple times, but it never seemed to stick. One day when I was at home sick, I decided to bite the bullet and do it again for real… The rest is history. You can read about what “Preptista” means to me here.
What kind of camera do you use?
I use a Nikon D3200 with a 18-55mm lens.
Who takes your pictures?
Photos taken of me are normally taken by my dad, my mom, or a friend, but all other photos are taken by me unless otherwise specified with a “*via” link below.
Where do you go to school/what is your major?
I recently graduated from the University of Southern California and majored in Business Administration at the Marshall School of Business with a minor in Communication Design at the Roski School for Art and Design.
What are your favorite stores?
I do a most of my shopping at J.Crew, Madewell, and Nordstrom. Tuckernuck is another one of my favorite shops for preppy essentials. I am always surprised by the unique selection of clothes and accessories and can rarely look on their website without adding a million things to my shopping cart.
How do you edit your photos?
I use photoshop to edit and adjust photos for my blog. As for Instagram, my favorite photo editing apps are VSCOcam and Snapseed – I usually use a combination of both when I edit.
I want to start a blog. What blog hosting site should I use?
When I initially started out blogging, I used WordPress.com because it was one I had heard of before. After blogging for almost a year, I realized I wasn’t getting as much out of the platform, so I switched to Blogger. In my opinion, Blogger is much more straightforward and a little bit easier to use when you are just starting out. I have since migrated my blog to WordPress.org and I am so happy I did. It now allows me much more room for creativity and customization and gives me more ownership over my content. I also love all the plugins and various integrations it has.
Who designed your logo/header?
I designed my logo image myself and my blog theme is customized from 17th Avenue.
Will you check out my blog?
If you email me with a direct link to your blog, I’d love to take a look at it! If you want feedback on something in particular on your blog, specify it in the email and I’d be happy to help out!
How can I get more followers for my blog?
There’s really no straight answer to this besides persistence and patience. Gaining followers takes a lot of work, a consistent effort, and time. Also, always write about things you are interested in and write as often as possible because your passion (or lack thereof) will show through your writing.
Where did you get the (insert article of clothing here) in your outfit post?
I provide links to each item at the bottom of the outfit post. If an item is no longer available, I try my best to find a similar item and link to that one instead.
Do you ever work with companies/brands?
I frequently work with brands who have both contacted me and who I have contacted. I only work with brands that I would support regardless of compensation and always provide an honest opinion. You can read my disclosure policy below and if you are a brand looking to work together, you can email me here.
