I’m taking a break this week from my usual Friday “Lovely Links” post because I just have too many things to share from my trip to NYC! Day 4 was definitely one the most exciting days of the trip! Here’s what I was up to:
My morning started off with a tour of Teen Vogue. This definitely goes on the list of coolest things I’ve ever had the privilege of doing. As a dedicated Teen Vogue reader, and magazine collector, I cried inside a bit when I saw the bright red sign through the glass doors.
Editor-In-Chief Amy Astley’s office was absolutely gorgeous. She had it decorated in a way that looked simple, elegant, and chic all at the same time.
I spy Elle Fanning in the back.
The cutest seating area in Amy’s office.
The best part (maybe second best) of the tour was getting to go in the Teen Vogue Fashion Closet. The walls were lines floor to ceiling with accessories ranging from Vans sneakers to Chanel couture bags. Needless to say I was in heaven thinking about all the greats who had been in that room and worn those very pairs of shoes.
Later in the day we got a tour of the Kenneth Cole Production Studios. Our tour was led by Amanda Cole, Kenneth’s daughter, who was absolutely as sweet as could be. It was really interesting learning about the foundation of a company that I pretty much knew nothing about. Learning about KC’s philanthropic work really gave me a whole new perspective and new found respect for what they do.
After the tour of Kenneth Cole, I headed down to The Plaza to meet Mimi for tea. Since she was running a bit late (#shocker) and not answering her phone (#doubleshocker), I decided to take photos of the city around the hotel and of the hotel itself, while I waited.
Tea at The Plaza was everything I had hoped it would be and more. The food was delicious, the tea delightful, and the service impeccable. Everything exceeded my expectations by far and it was really great bonding time for my mom and I! If you every find yourself with free time in NYC, I would definitely recommend trying to fit in tea at The Plaza. (For all you Eloise fans out there like myself, they have a special Eloise tea menu you can order from, and a “rawther” darling Eloise boutique downstairs!)
Next stop of the day was the grand opening party for the first BirchBox store in SoHo. We were so lucky to be in the city for this event! It was so much fun getting to see all the full size versions of products I’ve received in the mail and also get to build my own BirchBox! (Sidenote: I’m thinking of reviewing products I receive in my BirchBox here on the blog. Let me know what you would think about this in the comments!)
go on, give it a whirl
The story was seriously impressive. The Stories were lined with products on the walls that were all categorized by type, use, and color. It was like an OCD girl’s paradise (aka my paradise)!
One of my favorite parts of the store was the nail polish display on the bottom floor. I loved how it was arranged by color. It was oh so photo worthy! (Disclaimer: Some of you may have seen a similar photo on the Instagram account @bowsandsequins. Please know, I did not steal this photo from her. I actually took it while I was at the party, before she even arrived. It was really just a coincidence!)
Ah! looks like such a fun day! Wish I could've gone on the tour 😉

I am so jealous of your tour of Teen Vogue offices! I didn't know BirchBox had a store. That's so cool! Looks like a great trip!

I've been living vicariously through your NYC recaps! It looks like you had a great time. What do you use to edit your pictures (loving that one from tea at the plaza!)?
I've thought about signing up for BirchBox a few times and would love to see what comes in yours every month! I vote yes to product reviews 😉
