Well, the wedding has come and gone! I’m excited to dive into all the wedding things on here once I get all the photos back from our photographer, but in the mean time I thought it would still be fun to check in! If you want a peek, you can see some highlights here! It’s amazing how much brain space I’ve gained since the wedding planning is over and I’m excited to dive into the blog and my social media again!
For the past week I’ve been documenting my daily outfits on my Instagram and Tik Tok and it’s been a really fun and challenging experience! While I love putting together outfits and being dressed up, this is still something that’s put me a little bit out of my comfort zone in the best way. Below are a couple takeaways I’ve gotten from the experience…
I’m A Lot More Productive
Since I work from home it’s really easy, and unfortunately common, for me to stay in the workout clothes from that morning all day long. Of course, if I have zoom calls or need to go meet with clients in person then I step up my game, but that’s typically only like one or two days a week, since I try to lump my calls and meetings together. While it’s definitely easier to stay in my workout clothes, there’s no doubting how much better and more productive you feel when you put yourself together. At least for me, something in my brain just clicks and it’s like I “turn on.”
Shopping My Closet Is Fun
Suring this challenge, I’ve also been doing a no-shopping July with one of my best friends. After the wedding season and honeymoon, I’d done plenty of shopping and felt like I needed to rein it in (I do) and save a little money. But wow! Not shopping at all is hard!!! This has forced me to really shop my closet and get creative! I’ve been pulling out pieces I haven’t worn in a while and flexing my creative muscles, which has been refreshing. When it really comes down to it, I don’t actually need anything! But, that doesn’t mean I don’t still want new pieces to style and play with!
I Tend To Wear a Lot of The Same Thing
The hardest part about the entire thing is that, because I’m documenting all my outfits and using it for “content”, I can’t just wear variations of the same thing every day. I mean I guess I could, but I dont think that would be as interestign and entertaining! Apparently I’m a creature of habit! I’m not saying that I’m straying from my true personal style, but I’m trying to switch things up a bit and wear different things rather than just dress in a “uniform” of sorts.
This whole excercise has definitely made me a lot more excited about getting dressed and has been just the entertainment I need after the wedding to avoid the “post-wedding blues.”
