I’ve been feeling kind of uninspired lately and a little unmotivated when it comes to this blog. I can’t really even figure out why — I just know that’s how I’ve been feeling. I’ve been in a rut and I hate it.
But, here’s the thing, you can get out of a rut! You just need to make the choice to get yourself out.
Luckily for me, I haven’t been in a rut in every aspect of my life. I’ve been really creative and successful at my internship and I’ve begun tackling some major things I want to work on in my personal life (#GoMe).
Here is the irony: the times I feel the most inspired and successful in all aspects of my life, are the times when I am give this blog my all. Makes sense that I’ve been feeling kind of uninspired if I haven’t blogged in about two weeks then, right? Whenever I am in a rut, it’s so easy for me to blame my lack of commitment on other things in my life like, for example, being tired when I come home from work (I probably use this one with myself the most). When I came across this quote this evening though, something immediately stuck with me. Everything is indeed a choice and the only way we can make anything happen is by choosing to make it happen. Instead of coming home and telling myself I’m too tired to write a blog post, I should be choosing to take the time to write a blog post I’m proud of for me — so that I can feel fulfilled and proud.
This quote can apply to sooooo many other things in your life too, for example, eating healthy. Making the choice to eat good or bad food seems so simple, but it’s so easy to just blame your french fry indulgence on a craving. When you do that though, you are choosing to give into the craving rather than choosing to eat nutritious food that will fuel your body.
One thing about my blog that was bothering me for a while, but I was choosing not to act upon was my design. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the design and the colors and the overall vibe of it, but certain aspects of it just felt outdated. On a whim over the weekend, I decided to give this site a little bit of a facelift. Nothing too drastic, but just some things that would help it feel a little more fresh. Some noteworthy features to point out include the super cool slideshow of featured posts at the top, and the drop down menu in the nav bar! I also cleaned up the mobile version of the site, so it should look a lot better on your phone too. I hope you all love it as much as I do!
Let me know what you think of the design updates and what new content you’re interested in seeing this summer in the comments!
