Hopefully you all noticed that there was no post yesterday. There were a few different reasons as to why that happened that I’d rather not get into, but the main reason was that I was up until 1 am Monday night finishing my yearbook page for school.
Since I go to a relatively small all-girls school (only 80 girls per class) every senior gets their own page in the yearbook to include a few pictures, a senior portrait, a couple quotes, and a thank you message. I put off doing my yearbook page till the last minute because A) I didn’t think it would take me that long to do (boy was I wrong) and B) I didn’t want to face the fact that it was almost time to say goodbye. I’ll admit my high school experience, like many other experiences in my life, has not been perfect, but it’s certainly had it’s moments and summing up all those moments and thanking everyone necessary in a mere 225 words, was nearly impossible.
Writing those 225 words really got me in the spirit of gratitude, which is why I want to make today’s post about being grateful.
We are so lucky that we live in a world with so many different things to be grateful for. For starters, everyone reading this post right now, has some means of access to the internet and that is certainly something to be grateful for. I know I appreciate the internet! I don’t know who I would even be without it.
Think about your families. We all need to be thankful for our families, no matter how unbearable they can be at times. No matter how crazy they make you, you know you’d be lost without them.
You should also always be thankful for your friends. Finding good friends who really have your back isn’t easy, but once you’ve found them it makes all the frustration, the tears, and the hurting worth it. Trust me, I know from experience. I certainly feel like I would be lost without my friends. For me, I’ve been fortunate enough to have my blog friends (#DWC) and my school friends. (Guys, if you’re reading this, know I love you!)
While we are on the topic of gratitude though, I can’t forget to thank all of you! Starting this blog was one of the scariest things I ever did and it was hard. For the longest time I didn’t think it was worth it and if it hadn’t been for all of you amazing readers, I would be nowhere near where I am today! Thank you for supporting me, encouraging me, and spreading the word to your friends, your family, your neighbors, maybe even your dog. (No seriously, tell everyone. please.) You may not know it, but all of you have played a significant role in helping me develop my own identity. Thank you!
Taking a small chunk out of each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for can really make a difference in how you live your life. I know I am going to make it a goal to appreciate the “little moments” more, to be thankful for them, and to enjoy them as much as possible.
