I’ll be honest. Up until recently, quality sleep has never been something I’ve really focused and I’m not sure my parents would really categorize me as a morning person. In the past few weeks though, I’ve really been trying to make small, easy changes in my routines to improve my mornings and my nights. Here are some of the changes I’ve been making and totally recommend:
+ Use Pillow Spray: I’ve always been slightly skeptical about the benefits and effectiveness of aromatherapy, but after reading about and trying out this pillow spray, I can officially say I am a convert! I spray this stuff on my pillows and duvet cover every night before crawling into bed and I really do think it’s provided vast improvements to my sleep. The blend of lavender and chamomile is so soothing and really calms me down right before bed.
+ Drink Lots of Water: I’m pretty sure this one goes without saying (I mean is there ever a time where drinking water doesn’t help?), but I find drinking water to be so crucial. I try and drink at least one glass of water right before I go to bed and have two in the morning right when I wake up. Maybe it’s just me, but I always feel so dehydrated when I wake up in the morning!
+ Take Your Daily Vitamins: I recently got sent daily vitamins from Care/of and I’m hooked. They make it so easy for you by pre-packaging all the vitamins you need each day in cute little pouches with your name on it. It’s only been about a week since I started taking them and I’m already noticing a difference in my skin, energy, and overall health!
+ Take Time To Unwind: Taking time to unwind before bed is so important and one of the things I need to work on the most. It’s so easy to lay in bed and catch up on everything right before going to sleep, but it’s also so so bad for you. A few things I’m going to try and start doing every night instead of going on my phone: read a book or magazine, meditate using headspace, listen to a podcast.
+ Take Good Care of Your Skin: I don’t want to sound like your mother (or mine), but you really do need to wash and moisturize your skin every morning and night. Taking off your makeup before you go to bed is so important even though it may not seem it and washing your face in the morning is the perfect thing to wake you up and feel refreshed. I use this face wash every morning and night. Moisturizing is essential too. I like to use a rich moisturizer at night and something lighter in the morning.
