Life has been absolutely crazy lately – in the best way possible. Even though I’ve been sick for about a week and a half now, I’ve been trying to not let it get me down and keep me from having fun and being successful. I took one day off from classes last week because I had a fever, but I was back in action the next day! I’ve been up to some pretty fun adventures lately so I thought I update you all on what’s been going on!
I’ve been really inspired lately to go to museums, so a couple weeks ago one of my friends and I decided to take a quick trip down to one of LA’s newest and most popular museums – The Broad. I had been dying to go for a while, and it definitely lived up to my expectation. I took so many fun and cool photos that I want to share, so if you guys are interest (let me know in the comments) I’ll do a recap post just about my trip to the museum! The highlight of the visit was the Jeff Koons exhibit, but honestly everything was so cool! I didn’t get to go in the Infinity Room, but I’m planning on going back soon to give it a go!
My friend and I decided to give up carbs (not including sugar) up for lent this year and let me tell you it has been a real struggle. I thought it would get easier, but it honestly feels like it’s gotten harder over time. It’s crazy how many things I’ve removed from my diet though! I never realized how accustomed to eating carbs I was! Snacks like these chicken salad let’s boats have been my absolute go-to.
My parents always let me tag along with them for Valentine’s Day (aren’t they just the best?) and this year, like every other year, we had one of the most amazing meals. My dad got us a reservation at a restaurant I’ve been dying to try called Republique and it was so so so good. I wish I had taken more pictures! Some of the highlights of the meal included the Oysters, the Black River Osetra Caviar, the Eggs on Toast, the pork belly starter, and the Cassoulet. All the dishes are served family style and are the perfect portion sizes for sharing and just getting nice tastes of each dish! I’m dying to go back and try some of the other dishes though! I’ve heard the french fries are to die for, but those are going to have to wait until after lent.
My mom’s best friend, who is like another mother to me just celebrated her 50th birthday and my mom threw her the prettiest birthday brunch ever! I loved getting to see the whole even come together and even helped my mom with the place cards! We used little party hats and wrote everyone’s names on them in gold foil!
I took a little break from studying for my midterms this weekend and headed down to the Santa Monica pier with some girls from my sorority and just got to destress a little bit. the Snata Monica Joan’s on Third was conveniently located right above our parking lot so we stopped into get our validation and pick up some lunch to-go on our way back to campus!
