If you’re like me, then you are either currently in the midst of taking finals or extremely busy studying for them. Finals can be such a stressful time and almost unbearable when you know Christmas break is only days away. For this very reason, I’ve decided to share some of my study tips for conquering finals with all of you to help make the studying a little bit easier. Hope they help!
1. Start Early.
I can not express enough how important studying early is for success on exams! Studies show that repetition is best for learning, so if you begin reviewing early and study smaller amounts of information more frequently, you will be more likely to remember what you studied while you are taking the test!
2. Mix Up Your Subjects.
Some people think that it is most effective to dedicate long periods of time to one subject, but, personally, I’ve found that when I switch between subjects as the day goes by instead of focusing one on subject for an entire day, the studying is a little more bearable and I prevent my head from spinning with too much information.
3. Move Around.
It is extremely unhealthy to stay sitting in the same place for an entire day. It is essential to your physical and mental health to get up and move around. Go to the gym, go for a walk, or get up and make yourself a lunch – whatever you can do to get on your feet, get moving, and get a change of scenery!
4. Motivate Yourself.
Finding motivation or even bribing yourself is definitely helpful when it comes to studying for a dreadful class or getting through a specific chapter. Sometimes it can be helpful to open your textbook and put a piece of candy at the end of each paragraph or section you need to read in order to help yourself get through it! You can even bribe yourself by saying if you study for 2 hours, you can watch a one hour TV show on netflix!
5. Drink Lots of Water.
Drinking water while studying or while taking a test helps keep you feeling refreshed. Not to mention, research shows that when you drink water and your cells are hydrated, information can flow more freely throughout the brain and it helps lower your stress levels. Along with this, chewing gum right before a test helps oxygen travel to your brain and allows you to think more clearly during the exam!
Good luck to everyone on their upcoming finals!
