As I’ve said before here, I try to keep everything I talk about on this blog very up to date with what is currently happening in my life – what I’m thinking about, what’s inspiring me, what I’m dying to buy… You get the picture. Well, all day yesterday all I could think about was Blizzard Juno hitting the East Coast. It was partly because I was looking at pictures like this on Instagram and partly because I realized that next year, that could be me, in the cold, shivering, and snowed in.
It may come as a surprise to some of you (although I really hope it doesn’t), but growing up in Southern California, I have never had a snow day. Once during my freshman year we had a crazy windstorm hit and all the schools in my area were closed for about three days. The wind knocked down huge trees, shattered glass windows, and shut down the power. So yeah, it’s not like school has never been cancelled for me, but I’ve never had a snow day and I can’t help but admit that the prospect of actually having one sounds thrilling and terrifying at the same time.
Any who, today I want to talk about what five things I would want to have with me if I was snowed in.
- Soft Blanket: There’s nothing quite like curling up with a super soft blanket. I am obsessed with this one (posted about here) and use it on my bed even when it isn’t that cold out. Oops. Some of my other favorites include this (on sale), this (on sale), and this (on sale). Shop the blankets below:
- Candles: I love having a good smelling candle burning in my room. It puts my mind at ease and helps calm me a bit, but I normally can’t deal with smells that are too strong. My favorites are the Diptyque candles. See of my favorites scents below:
- Books: I feel like stocking up on a couple good books is pretty much a universal necessity when preparing to be snowed in. You have no clue how long you’re electricity will last so you need something non-technology related to occupy your time, so why not curl up with your cozy blanket (above) and a blanket you just can’t put down. See a few of my favorite books below.
- Socks:I’m generally not a big socks wearer, but my mom constantly insists that I put them on around the house (much to my chagrin), so I’ve acquired quite a collection. Here are my favorites:
- Board Games and Puzzles: When you’re a little bit bored of reading you need something else to entertain you, right? Again, since we are going all anti-tech here, boardgames and puzzles are the perfect thing to keep you thoroughly entertained. My favorites:
